The Northern Community Radio community internet project web site name and domain has been changed from mnStringer.net to
http://www.northerncommunityinternet.org/. Currently the web site is under development with new services being added as they are developed. Some local content is already available for six local communities, Brainerd, Bemidji, Grand Rapids, Hibbing, Leech Lake/Cass Lake and Virginia. This includes a local Google search, free classified advertising, a “blog roll” of the most recent storied from local blogs and a news service of local news stories.
The Bemidji site can be reached directly at bemidjicommunityinternet.org
The first stable version of the local web sites is scheduled to roll out in January. Until then the site is being updated with new features as they become available. One of the project's goals is to aggregate all local internet content in one place and provide a way for local internet content producers to attract a shared audience. The site currently allows local residents to identify local web sites to include in the local search, add local blogs to the blog roll, post a link to a local news story and place and respond to classified ads.
Northern Community Internet is a project of Northern Community Radio (91.7 KAXE).
